Crews battle car fire on Interstate 64

On Saturday, April 6, 2013, shortly after 9:30PM, crews from the Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue and East Rivanna Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched to mile-marker 130 on I-64 for a reported car fire.  Engine 24 arrived and found a 2006 Nissan Altima with heavy fire pushing from the engine compartment.  The fire quickly spread to the passenger compartment before it was able to be extinguished.  After the smoke cleared, the vehicle was searched and found to be clear of any occupants.  Virginia State Police was notified, and is handling the investigation.  Photos courtesy of Jessica Bryant.
